Some people are still confused about debt settlement and the methods of debt settlement. Debt settlement makes no use of loans of any kind. Rather, debt relief works through a process of negotiation.  In this manner, large amounts of debt are forgiven, and never need to be repaid. Debt settlement only works for unsecured debt, such as credit card debt, medical bills, department store cards, gas, cards, unsecured personal loans, auto loans, and utility bills.

To start a debt settlement, contact your creditor. Many creditors will send out settlement offers periodically, but others will require that you contact them to negotiate a settlement. Once the creditor has agreed to settle, you'll be sent a bill for a final settlement amount. That amount must be paid in full upon billing unless another arrangement has been made.
